AFI's History
|

|
AFI was founded in Elmira, NY in October of 1984 by Ken Doyle. At that time, all shop operations were performed in Ken's single car garage, and all office functions were performed in Ken's
basement. Originally known as Automation For Industry, our name was changed to AFI Cybernetics Corporation upon incorporation in November of 1986. |
|
| The 6000 square foot building and
adjacent grounds on Batavia St. were purchased in March of 1985 and put into
operational condition the following summer. |
 |
| A 6000 square
foot expansion to the physical plant was completed in August of 1989. The
main parking lot, reception lobby, and office expansion were completed in
August of 1990. A third expansion adding another 5000 square feet of
manufacturing space was completed in 1997. |

|
In June of 2001 the entire original
building along with added front office space was demolished, allowing for a
fourth expansion which gained AFI 8000 square feet of manufacturing space along
with 3800 feet of office space. Photos of the latest expansion can be
viewed here. |
